Amanda Pomeroy

Director

With almost two decades in university academic administration; 12 years as Head of Administration of a Scientific Department at the University of St. Andrews, Amanda's main role within Pomeroy Furber Associates will be to streamline and support the operational and management of the consultancy on a day to day basis.

Having acquired a background of top level academic departmental administration developing specific experience in organizational skills, budgeting and finance, sales and marketing co-ordination and web and communications proficiency, Amanda is an accomplished leader in her field.

More recently she has developed associated skills with her own PR and Marketing consultancy within the leisure industry.

Amanda has a calm presence with a natural flair for attention to detail. A quality which will be paramount to the success of Pomeroy Furber Associates.

James Furber

Director

James spent his legal career at Farrer & Co, solicitors, joining in 1976 as an Articled Clerk, becoming a Partner in 1985 and retiring as a full time Partner in 2020, although he remains as a part time Consultant with the Firm.

During that time, he had 8 years on the Management Board, was Senior Partner and headed the Property Department. In 1994 he was appointed Solicitor to the Duchy of Cornwall.

James has had wide experience advising a large variety of clients including educational establishments (for example, Oxbridge Colleges), large landowners and sporting bodies (particularly golf clubs) but has also advised property owning and other charities and has himself been a charitable trustee of numerous charitable trusts (including Leonard Cheshire Disability). He was Secretary of the Barts Medical College Trust for 15 years.

His legal specialisation is all types of property work from rural, through residential to commercial property. During the course of his career he has also acquired considerable experience in charitable law, matters of governance and administration. Additionally, through his management and leadership roles, he has extensive experience of professional service firms with a particular interest in advising on matters such as remuneration and appraisal at equity partner level.
